DECLARATION of SOLIDARITY and COMMITMENT
Message to the Mapuche
March for Self Determination
Temuko, Wallmapuche [Chile]
March 20, 2019
Good greetings of kinship,
solidarity, commitment and indigenous continental alliance from Abya Yala
North, the Great Turtle Island. In fulfillment with the commitments and
principles of the Continental Commission Abya Yala and in accordance with our word given at the International Conference of Indigenous Peoples in Temuco,
Wallmapuche on January 16, 2018 coinciding with the visit of Pope Francis to
Chile, we reiterate:
We declare our solidarity and commitment as Original Nations of Indigenous Peoples of Abya Yala with the Mapuche March for Self Determination in the exercise of their inherent right under International Law and in demand for PEACE and NO MILITARIZATION - NO COLONIZATION - NO DOMESTICATION and FREEDOM for MAPUCHE POLITICAL PRISONERS.
"We call on the organizations of the Indigenous Peoples of Abya Yala [Americas] and the Indigenous Peoples of Chile to actively participate and reaffirm each and every one of our fundamental rights and liberties and to bequeath to the future generations of the Indigenous Peoples a commitment to our rights and our common destiny based and guided by the foundations of our culture, and the principles of our collective right of Indigenous Self Determination."
We extend and echo the call of
the Mapuche March for Self Determination in Temuko throughout
the continent as an autonomous projection in the geopolitical sense of our Original Nations of Abya Yala in the historical, legal, political
and spiritual dimension.
Specifically, we call upon the United Nations and the Organization of American States for reinforcement of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples:
The principle of non-discrimination is a preemptive norm in international law. In coherence with the principles of UN General Assembly Resolution 1514 (1960) we call for the integration of a formal evaluation and a methodology of the processes of repudiation and dismantling of the racist relic of the Doctrine of Discovery by the government states of the Americas by the Special Rapporteur on each and every one of her official visits to countries whose claims of jurisdiction as successor states to the Doctrine are normalized by the Doctrine of the Discovery of Christendom, the Papal Bulls of Pope Alexander VI Inter Caetera (1493) and the concept of “Original Property of the State” in the Americas.
With the understanding that it is impossible to implement a self-empowerment agenda of collective Self-Determination as Original Nations of Indigenous Peoples in the territorial sense while we are dominated by calendrical schemes of other colonizing cultures, and in preparation for the Izcalli Abya Yala 2020, we mark and consciously advance from March 20, 2019, Tlanexpapalotl (Butterfly Sun: Equinox) Chicome Acatl Xihuitl (Year Seven Reed) the regeneration of our Continental Confederacy Kundur Anka.
We consider that each Original Nation of Abya Yala, each community and confederation, each organization and council of the Indigenous Peoples deserves the opportunity to be part of this great indigenous geopolitical uprising and Spiritual Emergence according to the vision and tradition of each, in complementarity with each other in common struggle, coordinated and synchronized at the regional and global in defense of the Territorial Integrity of Mother Earth.
We consider that according to the conditions, capacities and priorities, our actions of March 20, 2019 will simultaneously uplift the demands of the Mapuche March of Temuko as fundamental to the continental collective of struggle, solidarity and commitment.
