Regarding Violence and Respect for Life in Cuzcátlan [El Salvador, Central America]:
Since the invasion, colonization and up to the present, we have witnessed ethnocides and genocides, persecution and other forms of violence against Indigenous Peoples in El Salvador. Violence in all its forms and manifestations is reprehensible and immoral because it destroys that which is most sacred, the peace and integrity of the person, the family and therefore society. We want to draw attention to the ancestral territory of the western zone of El Salvador which is the birthplace of many indigenous martyrs. In Nahuizalco, Margot Pérez was born, she who is an advocate for our Indigenous Peoples and protector of sacred elements such as the lands and rivers that sustain life.
In recent times she has been threatened by hired assassins at the service of the hydroelectric power plants in the face of total silence from the authorities.
The protection of life and the protection of people must be a priority for the state, but in this case we only see a failed, blind, deaf and mute state. Therefore, we condemn the persecution of Margot Pérez and the cowardly murder of her brother-in-law José Alfredo Hernández, which occurred on May 3, 2019 in the city of Nahuizalco, El Salvador.
We reject the inoperative conduct of the state authorities and their indifference to these facts.
We call for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights investigate and help us clarify these facts on the ground in order to bring to justice the intellectual and material authors of these criminal acts.
WE CALL FOR THE SOLIDARITY OF ALL THE NATIONS AND PEOPLES OF THE WORLD
We commit ourselves to continue fighting to demand that this and other abuses against our leaders and Indigenous Peoples be resolved and bring an end the persecution, repression, threats, harassment and assassinations against our peoples. We conclude in demanding that the government of El Salvador fulfill its obligation to safeguard the life of each of its citizens and bring PEACE to the country.

Referente a la Violencia y el Respeto a la Vida en Cuzcátlan [El Salvador, Centro América]:
Desde la invasión, colonización y hasta el presente, hemos sido testigos de los etnocidiosy genocidios, persecución y otras formas de violencia en contra los Pueblos Indígenas en dicho país. La Violencia
en todas sus formas y manifestaciones es reprobable e inmoral porque
destruye lo más sagrado, que es en sí, la persona, la familia y por
tanto la sociedad. Queremos llamar la atención sobre el territorio
ancestral de la zona occidental de El Salvador la cual vio nacer muchos
mártires.
En Nahuizalco, nació Margot Pérez, quien es defensora de los Pueblos Indígenas y protectora de los elementos sagrados como lo son las tierras y los ríos que sustentan la vida. En tiempos recientes a sido amenazada por sicarios al servicio de las hidroeléctricas ante un silencio total de las autoridades.
La protección de la vida y protección de las personas debe ser prioridad para el estado, pero en este caso sólo vemos un estado fallido, ciego, sordo y mudo. Por tanto, condenamos la persecución de Margot Pérez y el cobarde asesinato de su cuñado José Alfredo Hernández, hecho ocurrido el día 3 de mayo de 2019 en la ciudad de Nahuizalco, El Salvador.
Rechazamos la inoperancia de las autoridades y la indiferencia ante estos hechos.
Exigimos al Alto Comisionado para los Derechos Humanos de las Naciones Unidas investigar y ayudarnos a esclarecer estos hechos para llevar a juicio a los autores intelectuales y materiales de ese hecho.
PEDIMOS LA SOLIDARIDAD DE TODAS LAS NACIONES Y PUEBLOS DEL MUNDO
Nos comprometemos a seguir luchando para exigir que este y otros abusos contra nuestros líderes y pueblos indígenas sean resueltos y cese la persecución, represión, amenazas, hostigamientos y asesinatos en contra de nuestros pueblos.
Terminamos exigiendo al
gobierno de El Salvador que cumpla con su obligación de salvaguardar la
vida de cada uno de sus ciudadanos y llevar la PAZ a nuestro país.

Dear Special Rapporteur,
It is with grave concern for our relatives in
El Salvador that I send this message
to you tonight. I have just received a telephone report that Jose Alfredo Hernandez, brother-in-law
of Margot Perez – leader and
spokesperson for the Network of the Smiling Jaguar of Indigenous Peoples in El Salvador has been assassinated this evening in Nahuizalco.
Jose Alfredo Hernandez is the now deceased husband of Maria Magdalena Perez, sister of Margot Perez who has had to flee her home community of Nahuizalco and is now in hiding, and in grave danger for her life. Reports are that the military police in Nahuizalco had been harassing Jose Alfredo Hernandez recently, extorting him for money, and demanding that he reveal the whereabouts of Nana Margo Perez, the leader of the Smiling Jaguar Network.
At this moment, Maria Magdalena Perez is also in immediate danger and exposure as well as her three children Wendy Magdalena, Estefany Gabriela and Soe Valentina.
The assassins who killed Jose Alfredo Hernandez tonight are known killers at the service of the corrupt local authorities who have been operating with impunity in El Salvador since the Matanza of ’32.
WE MAKE AN URGENT CALL FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE AND ATTENTION TO THIS GRAVE CONCERN OF IMMEDIATE DANGER TO OUR RELATIVES AND ASK THAT YOU COMMISION A FACT FINDING OBERSERVATORY MISSION TO NAHUIZALCO, EL SALVADOR IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT FURTHER VIOLENCE AND LOSS OF LIFE.

Con gran preocupación por nuestros familiares de los Pueblos Originarios en El Salvador, les envío este mensaje esta noche. Acabo de recibir un informe telefónico de que José Alfredo Hernández, cuñado de Margot Pérez, líder y portavoz de la Red del Jaguar Sonriente de Pueblos Indígenas en El Salvador, fue asesinado esta noche en Nahuizalco.
José Alfredo Hernández es el ahora fallecido esposo de María Magdalena Pérez, hermana de Margot Pérez, quien tuvo que huir de su comunidad natal de Nahuizalco y ahora está escondida, y en grave peligro para su vida. Los informes indican que la policía militar de Nahuizalco había estado acosando a José Alfredo Hernández recientemente, extorsionándolo por dinero y exigiéndole que revelara el paradero de Nana Margo Pérez, la lideresa de la Red del Jaguar Sonriente.
En este momento, María Magdalena Pérez también está en peligro y exposición inmediata, al igual que sus tres hijos Wendy Magdalena, Estefany Gabriela y Soe Valentina.
Los asesinos que mataron a José Alfredo Hernández esta noche son asesinos conocidos al servicio de las corruptas autoridades locales que han estado operando con impunidad en El Salvador desde La Matanza del ‘32.
HACEMOS UN LLAMADO URGENTE PARA SU ASISTENCIA Y ATENCIÓN A ESTA GRAVE PREOCUPACIÓN POR UN PELIGRO IMINENTE PARA NUESTROS FAMILIARES Y PEDIMOS QUE COMISE UNA COMISION DE OBSERVATORIO EN NAHUIZALCO, EL SALVADOR IMEDIATAMENTE PARA PREVENIR MAS VIOLENCIA Y LA PERDIDA DE VIDAS HUMANAS.
