SECOND SESSION
of
MAPUCHE CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY
December 11-12, 2019
Cerro Ñielol, Temuco [Chile]
Indigenous Peoples and the Mapuche People in particular are
holders of the Right to Self-Determination, stipulated in two norms of International
Law which state the following: “Indigenous Peoples have the right to
Self-determination. Under this right they freely determine their political
status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.” A
legal reading in the context of Chile would specify: "The Mapuche People
have the right to self-determination."
In order to make the right to indigenous self-determination
prevail, the Mapuche People interested in our political rights and worried
about our future now call for a self-convening at the 2nd Session of
the Mapuche Constituent Assembly on December 11 and 12, 2019 at Cerro Ñielol,
city of Temuco.
In the 2nd. Session of the Mapuche Constituent
Assembly a Statute or a Political Constitution of the Mapuche Government will
be debated and said Instrument of Standard will establish the institutional
relations between the Mapuche People and the Chilean State, the scope of
competences, and the jurisdictional boundaries among other affairs that will be
adopted looking at the future to establish a firm and lasting Peace.
